The crash date, location, report number, and names or contact details for witnesses.

  2. 02

Photos, available dashcam footage, insurance information, and letters or settlement offers.

Common questions

Before you decide.

General information. Your circumstances require individual advice from an attorney.

Where can I obtain the Texas crash report?

TxDOT offers an online crash report purchase system for people entitled to receive a report. Keep the investigating agency's report number and the crash date available. You can discuss the crash with an attorney even if the report is not yet available.

How long do I have to file a Texas injury lawsuit?

Section 16.003 generally sets a two-year limitations period for personal injury lawsuits, measured from when the claim accrues. Exceptions and other notice requirements can change the analysis. Ask an attorney to identify the deadlines for your facts rather than treating an insurance claim as a filed lawsuit.

What if the insurer has already offered a settlement?

Bring the complete offer and any proposed release to the consultation. The discussion should address what the payment covers, the injuries and losses documented so far, and what signing would resolve. An offer alone does not establish the full value of a claim.
